Doloi's Pator - Meghalaya -

© Seema K K :: The person in white turban is called a "Pator", assistant to the chief "Doloi" of the province of Nartiang in Jaintia hills, Meghalaya. "The Doloiship" is a traditional form of governance still existing in Jaintia hills of Meghalaya and run parallel to the democratic government institutions. Pator and rest meet on market days and collect taxes from local people for religious and social causes, and all the meetings are held at the historical stone memorial of Nartiang.
